Every April, the Peter Café Sport Triathlon is held. It has been labelled as a race with a difference because its competitors take part in windsurfing, cycling and kayaking between and across the islands of Faial, Sao Jorge and Pico in the Azores. The windsurfing event covers a 12-nautical mile course from Sao Jorges Velas to Cais do Pico. Participants must then travel 37 miles through mountain biking and end the competition by kayaking back to Faial.
