Oceanarium in Lisbon

The Lisbon Oceanarium is the largest in Europe. It showcases about 16,000 animals and plants which represent over 450 different species. Recreations of the world’s coastal habitats can be found in the four towers which circle the central aquarium. One of the world’s largest aquariums, the Global Ocean Tank, is located in the Oceanarium and is capable of containing 4 million litres of water. The best known animals that can be found in the tank are sharks, rays and barracudas.

The Zoomarine in Guia is a theme park which is inspired by marine life. It is spread out over 8 hectares and contains animal shows, an aquarium, pools, rides, and lots of other attractions that are guaranteed to delight visitors of all ages. One of the featured animal shows is the Magic Book, with sea lions as its special guests. An exhibition called Birds of Prey is also showcased wherein falcons and eagles take centre stage. Another popular attraction is the Dolphin show where the clever marine mammals demonstrate acrobatics.

The Lisbon Zoo was established in 1884 and it hosts animals from the different continents on earth. At present, it contains more than 2,000 animals representing 350 species, one of the greatest zoological collections in the world. Visitors can take the cable car so they can see an amazing view of the zoo. The rarest animals available for viewing are koalas and Komodo dragons. Tourists can also see the dolphin and sea lion shows, and admire other animals like elephants, gorillas and bears.
