The Botanical Garden is located right in the very heart of Lisbon, Portugal. It was created in the 18th century and its many botanical specimens were brought into the country by the Portuguese ships that travelled all over the globe during that era. The grand alley with its border of graceful palm trees is particularly impressive. Its greenhouses also host a large collection of cacti. Groups of Portuguese school children can often be seen in the garden learning the names of the different plants. The Botanical Garden is definitely an important tourist destination in Lisbon.

MIDAS Botanic Garden

The MIDAS Botanic Garden can be found in the north west of Portugal within the River Lima area. It is a botanic centre which seeks to educate people about the conservation of plant diversity and its importance for the earth’s future. It also aims to make clear distinctions between native, exotic and invasive plant species to distinguish the native flora of Portugal. The park features an evolution trail, theme rooms, a library, water mill, amphitheatre and the MIDAS Project headquarters.

Conimbriga Roman Garden

Conimbriga is one of the best preserved Roman archaeological sites in Europe. It showcases the House of Cantaber, which was the residence of a Roman nobleman and is one of the largest houses to be discovered in the western Roman empire. Conimbriga also features the House of the Fountains and a museum. The mosaics on the site are in almost perfect condition with designs that depict mythological themes. Of course, the site also a garden that the visitor simply must not forget to see.
